End the Mortgage-Interest Deduction? Are you crazy?

In an article at Bloomberg.com on November 13, 2011 the editors came up with some ideas of their own to help the Super Committee get around the roadblock between Republicans and Democrats. The Republicans are still fighting against any new tax hikes while the Democrats want many new tax increases. And for the record, I will never call a Tax Increase “New Revenue” or any other seemingly nice word combination that always means the same thing, more taxes!

One of their suggestions was to eliminate the mortgage interest deduction. Sometimes I cannot believe that these dingbats in the media ever finished High School much less than receiving an Ivy League education. Does it take a rocket scientist to understand the correlation between a healthy economy and a healthy housing market? Imagine what would happen if we eliminated the mortgage interest deduction. Millions of home owners would have a whopping TAX INCREASE because they would no longer be able to deduct thousands each year from their tax returns!

The mortgage-interest deduction is also a great incentive to buy a home. If this deduction were eliminated the housing market would take a nose dive that would end in a tragic collision with the pavement! It would make more sense for the average home owner to rent than to own. This is one reason that I am not in support of a flat tax. Sure 9-9-9 sounds great but without a mortgage-interest deduction your taxes would go up!

Now, I am not a Rocket Scientist, in fact, I am not even a paper airplane scientist. But I do know how to think for myself and I am very happy that the Republicans in Congress aren’t listening to the editors of Bloomberg.com

When does a City go too far?

I  am going to ask three questions.

1. If the government told you that you could only buy fuel for your car on even or odd days based on the last number on your license plate in order to conserve fuel how would you feel?
2. If the government decided to ticket and fine you if you allowed your car to idle for more than two minutes how would you feel?
3.  If the government told you that you could only drive your car on even or odd days based on the last number of your license plate how would you feel?

   

Each of these questions sounds outrageous right?  Would you believe that questions one and two are not hypothetical but actually happened?  In the late 70’s the US was in the midst of an oil crisis and a gas shortage caused by poor US foreign policy.  The Carter administration decided that the best way to deal with the issue was to “Conserve,” restrict when people could buy fuel for their cars. If you were caught purchasing gas when it was not your day you received a heavy fine. 

Don't plan on selling your home after 2012

Remember during the debate about Obamacare when we were all shocked at the 2,000 plus page bill that none of the legislators ever read? And remember some of the stupid comments from some of the Senators who actually said the bill was too big to read before voting on?  Or how about when Nancy Pelosi told us that it is best to get it passed now and then work out the details later?

Well, I think it is now “later” and here is one of those “details” that you may find very interesting….I mean irritating! 

If you sell your house after 2012 you will pay a 3.8% sales tax on the sale.  That means after you pay your Realtor and possibly your buyers closing costs you will pay Uncle Sam….I mean Uncle Obama….wait a minute, hopefully we will have retired him by then.  Anyway, there will still be a big bloated US Government with trillions in debt and that big debt monster will gladly take your money.

Let me break it down with some real numbers.  Let’s say that you sell your house for $200,000 and you pay a 6% sales commission.  That comes to $12,000.  And then you pay your buyers closing costs of about 3% that comes to $6,000.  Then you get to pay 3.8% of your sales price into the ObamaCare plan which comes to $7,600.  It just cost you $25,600 to sell your home! But look on the bright side of this, you will help pay for the cost of FREE health care for everybody, including those who don’t own a home or even have a job and pay no income taxes.

Now guess who this will impact the most?  How about the seniors who are retiring and downsizing?  Yep!  They will get hit the hardest, which seems so strange since the Democrats say that it is the Republicans who want to starve the seniors and take away their Medicare. 

I understand the National Association of REALTORS is fighting to get this changed.  It couldn’t hurt for you to call your Senators and Congressmen as well and tell them that you don’t want to see the entire US housing market decline in 2013 because it will be too costly for people to sell their homes. This is definitely “Change you can believe in” but pocket change won’t buy another home or put food on the table.

The Obama administration refuses to acknowledge that it was due to the Bush administration policy on interrogating terrorists that information was received to stop several more US bombing attempts over the last decade and the information that eventually led to the capture and killing of Osama bin Laden! Yet, the Obama administration continues to investigate CIA interrogators whose interrogation methods have resulted in this information. I say it’s time to leave our military and our intelligence officers alone and let them do their job regardless of how uncomfortable it makes you feel!

We were initially told that photo's of the dead Osama bin Laden would be released to the public last Monday, then Tuesday as confirmed by Leon Penetta the CIA chief and then Obama made a statement that he would not be releasing the photos for fear of retribution!

He did not want to disturb people with the graphic nature of the pictures. President Obama have you ever heard the name Nick Berg? Remember him, the American who was videotaped by Al Qaeda as they sawed his head off and then posted the video on the internet? It was the most gruesome thing I have ever watched and yes it did disturb me, it made me want to see every last Islamic terrorist shot dead, especially Osama bin Laden!

Osama bin Laden killed by US President Commando Obama!

President Obama went on television last night and spent about 9 minutes taking personal credit for the death of Osama bin Laden. During what looked like an obvious self-promoting re-election stump speech in the White House he used his two favorite words “I” and “Me” numerous times when describing how “HE” found and killed Osama Bin Laden.

It was as if he himself found the whereabouts of the notorious world terrorist clothed himself in commando garb, slathered camouflage paint on his face, threw an M16 over his shoulder, dropped into the compound screamed out; “Osama Bin Laden Obama is here and let me be clear on this, I’m here to take you out so that I can reassure my re-election. No matter what you do, you’re gonna’ make my day!”

Inventor of the Teleprompter dies--Obama Left Speechless!

The inventor of the TelePrompTer Hubert J. Schlafly Jr., died on April 20th in Connecticut. We attribute this man’s invention as the savior for President Obama who cannot talk without the use of this device. In fact, anytime Obama speaks without a TeleprompTer he struggles for the right word or phrase to use. Most of his words are divided by a slew of “uhhhh’s” and his famous statement; “Let me be clear.” So far just two years into his Presidency Obama has used the let me be clear comment more than a Windex salesman at a dirty glass convention!

There is no comment from the White House yet but there are great expectations that President Obama will attend a memorial for Mr. Schlafly later this week. His aides say that the President’s staff is frantically making arrangements to get power to the location of the memorial which will be held about five miles from the nearest town and on the shore of Mr. Schlafly’s favorite fishing hole. The problem is that President Obama will only speak at the service if he can find an electrical plug for his teleprompter.

Can Obama be re-elected in 2012?

A recent poll in the New York Times states: “Nation’s Mood at Lowest Level in Two Years.” The poll suggested that things are not getting better for President Obama—they are getting much worse! 70% of American’s believe that the country is on the wrong track. Is this a surprise to anyone? We have record unemployment hovering around 9%--that is what the government tells you but the real numbers are between 17-20% and gas prices hovering around $4.85 a gallon. A friend of mine who lives in Hawaii pays $5.27 per gallon.

According to President Hugo Chavez Capitalism is to blame for the death of the people of Mars!

I recently read an article in Reuters about our socialist neighbor from the South President Hugo Chavez who thinks that there was life on Mars but Capitalism must have killed them off! Not only is this an incredibly laughable comment to make but it shows how much this ding bat loves attention. He takes every opportunity to be interviewed by the media or to speak at any function that will have him.

I wonder if he actually prepared his remarks ahead of time or if he simply ran out of things to say and his mind wondering off in space was filled with these thoughts;

"I have always said, heard, that it would not be strange that there had been civilization on Mars, but maybe capitalism arrived there, imperialism arrived and finished off the planet,"

He believes that Capitalism is responsible for most of the problems in the world, including the loss of forests, rivers and the world’s water supply, to name a few. I feel for the Venezuelan people who are held captive by this mad man and his regime.

The real unfortunate truth is that he like most socialists don’t focus on people and human rights but instead worry about the planet, the plants and the animals first. They then invent things like global warming which has NO proven scientific fact to support that man has ANYTYING at all to do with it, if it exists at all.

If Mr. Chavez would take the time to learn world history he would discover that capitalism is not the enemy of the planet or people, on the contrary it is the protector of both. The true enemy is socialism, communism, Marxism, and most other ism’s, that ALL ultimately lead to the death and destruction of millions and millions of PEOPLE, who when they were gone could not protect the planet, the plants and the animals either!

It is not capitalism that nearly wiped out every Jew in Europe; it was not capitalism that slaughtered millions of people in the Middle East, Africa, China, Russia, the Ukraine and all of the former Soviet countries. It was socialism, communism and all of the other anti-capitalistic beliefs and doctrines. Capitalism means freedom and the framers of the US constitution understood that a free Republic form of government with capitalism would provide Americans with the ability to create grow and prosper in this great land.

Capitalism even gave us the ability to explore the oceans below and the heavens above, the moon and yes, even Mars. And the last time I checked the Mars Rover has still not seen any sign or ancient remnants of Taco Bell, McDonalds or even WalMart!

If the US Dollar is replaced as THE WORLDS CURRENCY RESERVE the only thing to save the US from complete disaster is DRILL BABY DRILL!

I think this is the most IMPORTANT and unnerving post I have ever written. I wish everything in it was wrong. But I would rather deal with reality than make-believe and I think that my readers feel the same way. THIS IS A MUST READ!

When the world banking system collapsed in 2008 the bad debts were absorbed by the world’s governments, at least those governments big enough to pay the cost, i.e. the US among others. When Fannie Mae (FNMA) and Freddie Mac (FHLMC) became insolvent in 2008 (a huge part of the world’s banking problems) the US government stepped in and bailed them out. Since then both of these organizations have continued to record billions upon billions of losses costing the US government an “un-specified” trillions and trillions of debt! And this debt continues to add up EVERY SINGLE DAY!

According to the National Inflation Association: “Even if all US citizens were taxed 100% of their income it still would not be enough to balance the federal budget. We’d still have to borrow money just to maintain the status quo’”

The new “Conservative” members of congress claim that they want to end the status quo and cut the size of government and limit spending according to a balanced budget. I think that it would be wonderful if they succeeded! However, the reality is that there are more sinister things happening around the world that are in motion that threaten are total and complete way of American life and simply cutting the federal coffers and reducing the size of government won’t be enough!
